After lawmakers failed to reach an agreement on the budget, the Minnesota state government was forced to shut down for 20 days—the second time in six years. Thousands of people were left jobless and even more were confused. The BrandTube team took to the streets of the Twin Cities to scope out responses from people on the government shutdown.

Though the press framed the debate as an aggression filled battle that left Minnesotans enraged, we saw optimism and community bonds throughout the streets. When faced with financial uncertainty, citizens expressed concern for others before they did themselves. BrandTube showed that in unstable times, the people of Minnesota will stick together and support each other until there is an outcome.
